Obituary

Wilson - Gary Gene Labeth was received in the arms of his Lord and Savior on June 16, 2021.At the time of his passing, he was 80 years, 9 months, and 10 days old. He was surrounded by family and being prayed for by many.

Gary was born in Dillard, Oklahoma, on September 7, 1940, to Roy and Lorene Labeth. He attended school in Wilson, where he met the love of his life, Annie Mae Newell.  The two graduated in May 1958 and were married on September 15, 1958.  They moved to Oklahoma City, where he attended college and graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.  He furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma with a Masters of Business Administration with a
concentration in Education. He was a school teacher and principal in many Oklahoma towns, from Mannford to Healdton, eventually returning to his roots in Wilson, where he served the community until his retirement.

Gary was very active in the Church of Christ as an excellent Bible class teacher and leader for the church.  He would spend hours studying God’s Word and preparing for his classes.  He was willing to share his faith with anyone he came in contact with, and the prayers he led were always heartfelt and meaningful.  He had the privilege of officiatingmany couples as they began their married lives, as well as officiating several funerals and supporting families through difficulty.  Gary was fully devoted to his Lord and his
family, known for being a loving husband, an attentive and caring father, and a fun and supportive Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  The ripple of influence that he had is far-reaching and a testament to the life he lived.

Loved ones left behind include wife Annie Labeth, of Falconhead, OK; sister Kathy and Bob Thompson of Oklahoma City; children Gary Scott and Gwen Labeth of Jay, FL, Mark and Laura Labeth of Edmond, OK, Terri Labeth of Falconhead, OK, and Billy Rowan of Duncan, OK; grandchildren Shane and Lauren Labeth, Jessica and Charlie Adams, Ty and Ashlee Labeth, Tara and Rafael Espindola, Hailee and Cord Gross, Bree Labeth, Abby Labeth, and Melanie Anwar; great-grandchildren Erica, Brock, Sally, Annabeth, Zadie, Arthur, and two little ones due in October.  He also had many people that he welcomed as family: Claudia Labeth, Jack Buben, Biff and Val Eck, Greg,Jenny, Ashley, and Jamie Hambrick, and many more.

Gary will be honored in a celebration of life at 2:00 pm Saturday, on July 10, 2021 at Alexander Gray
Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.

I am truly sorry for this special family's loss. Mr. Labeth was one of a kind. He cared about people. That was very clear if you ever worked for him or with him. He was one of the best school superintendents with whom I ever worked. I considered him to be a wise man and often looked to him for advice. Family, what a wonderful life he lived with you all. I know he has left you with so many special memories and life lessons! I will be praying for you in the days to come. I am sorry I could not attend his service today but wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts. Deanne Garrett

My deepest condolences to all. Gary was a kind man and I’ve always thought fondly of him, and Annie, as well. Mr Labeth was my 6th grade school teacher a Healdton Elementary (where I was the tallest girl in the whole school.). Too, as June Finley’s daughter, Mary, I was somewhat related. My best to you, Annie , with much love and fond memories, to you and family.
