Shirley Mae (Shankles) Thompson, of Ringling, departed this life on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at her residence East of Ringling at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 0 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton with Bro. Joe Wilkerson officiating. Private Interment will follow. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton.
Shirley was born to the late Mr. Dawson Leo Shankles and Mrs. Mildred Pearl (Linton) Blevins in Gentry, AR on August 23, 1943.
Shirley was raised in Ringling near Mountain Home attending most of her school at Ringling. She married Mr. Dale Thompson, Sr. on August 23, 1961 in Ringling at the 6th Street Church of Christ by Bro. Ruel Wilson. They first made their home in Fox and Ragtown before moving to Ringling in 1980. Shirley was most well known for working at IGA, Otasco, and for selling Stanley, Avon, and Tupperware. Dale began having church at their house which was known as the Dundee Church of Christ. Shirley loved to fish, and play Bingo. She was a devoted homemaker and loved her family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Dawson L. and Hazel Marie Shankles, Mildred and Jack Blevins; husband, Dale Thompson; granddaughter, Candace Lee Thompson; a brother, Charles Shankles; brother in law, Bob Meyers.
She is survived by her son, Dale Thompson, Jr. and wife Sheryl of Ringling, daughters, Freda Mae Wright and husband David of Ringling; Cindy Thompson of Ringling, Betty Haddad and husband Dean of Edmond; sister, Wanda Meyer of Gentry, AR; brother, Jackie Shankles and wife Bonnie of Parker, CO; 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Many other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as Casket bearers will be David Wayne Wright, Brandon Wright, Jonathan Hocker, Joedale Bunch, Dale Thompson III, and Jack Thompson.
Honorary casket bearers are Kenneth Scott, Jesse Henry, Derek Gibson, David Wayne Wright, Jr., Landon Wright, Tanner Ellis, Chance Ellis, Tommy Wright, Breanna Wright, Serenity Wright, and Zachary Wright.
