I had the great opportunity of working with Payton in Newkirk. He brought such enthusiasm to the job and was willing to help anyone in the office plus the farm producers that needed his talents. I had just built an outdoor classroom for the conservation district and he was excited to see what was happening and brought me some of his grandpa's Moon and Stars watermelon seeds to plant. The children who came to the classroom were fascinated with these melons and got to harvest and enjoy their sweetness. He has left a mark on the world around him. My prayers are with you at this time of loss. Susan Henning

To the Mumford Family, I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss and offer my sincere condolences. I met Payton working for the NRCS in Chickasha and loved working with him. He was such a blessing that you couldn't help but cheer him on and celebrate every accomplishment he made. You couldn't find a more trustworthy and dependable friend then him. I am deeply saddened to know that I will not be able to hear him answer the phone with a "Hey sis" or hear his jokes and laugh any more. He was deeply passionate about his work and helping landowners. Pate was truly a joy to be around and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. My prayers go out to the friends and family during this difficult time. Gonna miss you Pate.
