Ann was a part of my life in many ways. Ann and JC were our neighbors to the south when I was growing up at Wilson. My mother still lives there, so they have been neighbors for approximately 50 years. Ann was my Bible class teacher at the Ash St Church of Christ in Wilson. She also taught my American History class at Wilson. She was a skilled and dedicated teacher. She supported me as I attended college and applied for my first teaching jobs by providing letters of recommendation when I needed them. In recent weeks, we chatted online and we mentioned getting together to talk "history". She said, "I'm always up for talking "history". We didn't get that opportunity, but I'm glad we got to touch base one last time. Ann made a difference as a Christian, a teacher, a historian and a mentor. I feel so blessed to have known her. Her shoes will be hard to fill in the Wilson community. I'll see her in heaven. I know from her life, that she would want all to live a life of faith and obedience to God above all else. In Christian love, Paula Steele Jones

To the family and loved ones of Ann. First of all let me say how sorry that I am about your loss! She was a dear Christian friend. She and I have been friends for over 50 years. She supervised my student teaching at Ardmore HS and we have been friends and have kept in touch over all these years. Just yesterday I thought that I should call Ann just to catch up on things like children and grandchildren, news and colleagues but mostly we talked about Jesus and His goodness! My decision not to follow through on that thought to call her, of course sadly regretted but she is no longer in pain, no more wheelchair. I know in my heart and mind that she is so much better, but I miss her already! Ann was a treasure for my heart and will cherish her memory! God Bless you and comfort you at this time of sorrow.
