Condolence From: Janet "Grandma Bare"
Condolence: Such a great loss; such a great man! Jug and his family were so good to my son Kenny and his family when they first moved to Velma. Kenny rented a house from Jug and the families became great friends... they continued to be great friends till this day. Jug was always very friendly to me when I was in Velma. I appreciated that and enjoyed visiting with him. I loved watching his boys playing basketball for Kenny and getting to know them. I know that many great memories will be with you forever. He is gone tooooo soon; but he is at home with his Father and you will see him again. You have my prayers and my deepest sympathy. Jesus loves you!

Condolence From: Joe Stewart
Condolence: I got to know Jug while he was at Velma. From the first time I ever met him I could tell he was a special person. The kids in school would flock around him and you could tell they thought the world of him. Kids are a good indicator of a persons 'worth'. He loved them and they loved him. I truly respected him and looked forward to running into him so we could visit. He was so down to earth and 'real' which is a rare item now days. But, we can know that we will see him on the other side someday.

Condolence: I am just in complete shock, it seems like it has only been a few weeks since I saw Mr. & Mrs. Garrett in Ardmore. The profound loss will leave its mark on many communities for years to come. He touch my life in elementary school and was always the most amazing man. Kind, compassionate and caring. He taught all of us kids at Velma that you can be whatever you want so long as you put your mind to it. Always understanding and one of the most respected men around. Growing up he was a figure to look up to. I remember when birthdays would roll around no matter what age you were you could always go to his office and he would give you a toy for your birthday. Especially in elementary school. I am so very sorry for his passing, he left some big shoes to fill for sure.

Condolence: What memories I have of this man! Such a rascal in his younger days, but such a wonderful, devoted husband, father, teacher, coach and friend to all who were lucky to encounter him! Dee, John, and Jerry Ray, I have observed through Facebook how you have honored and loved Jug these past 2~3 years since his diagnosis. The joy you brought to his life is priceless.
I just read Psalms 116the day before I read of his passing and thought of him. My deepest condolences for you all.

Condolence From: Cynthia (O’Dell) Powers
Condolence: He always had such a wonderful little boy sweet smile when we visited. I don’t ever remember him saying anything negative, even when he could have. There was always, “things will get better, or we will play better next time”...he will be missed by everyone. He was a fair-minded man and the world needs more just like him...

Condolence From: Song Shin
Condolence: Jug was my coach in 6th and 7th grade. He was the first to believe that a slightly chubby Asian kid could be an athlete and let me live out my wish to be a quarterback. I regret that I haven't seen or spoken to him in so many years. Still, there's no doubt that he was one the influential men in my life. He was the first to call me Song Won, Song Two...I will miss him. My condolences to all the family and I pray peace be with you all.
