Pat was an only child of James and Effie’s and graduated high school at the age of 16 from Dickson High School in 1955. His father introduced him into riding calves as a young boy and as Pat grew older he became an exceptional bull rider. He attended school at Murray State College at Tishomingo and later attended OSU. Bruce Carter for many years traveling to many different states, selling and installing pumps. He retired in 2000 due to Beverly’s illness and she preceded him death that same year.
Pat then moved back home with his parents residing on the family ranch on Buckhorn Creek south of Sulphur. When he was looking at some cattle for sale he met the former Darlene Blodgett. They became good friends and were soon united in marriage on February 2, 2002. Pat loved residing south of Wilson with Darlene and her cows. Pat gave his life to the Lord on April 15, 2007. He and Darlene were both members of the First Baptist Church of Wilson.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his Parents; son, Craig Hutchins and grandson, Coy Blodgett.
Survivors include his loving wife, Darlene of the home; sons, Cord Hutchins of Springer and Don Blodgett and wife Marie of Wilson; daughter, Charlett Blodgett; mother in law, Imogene Palmer of Marietta; grandchildren, D.J. Blodgett, Jessica Blodgett, Hannah Blodgett, Jacob Blodgett and Stephanie Clayton; numerous great grandchildren, other family, church family and friends.
